I'll take twenty-six.

(this picture is for you...as you pretend the snow outside is not falling)
...
..Tuesday I turned 26.
...
And it was pretty sweet.
...
Yeah, yeah. I know I'm beginning the end of my twenties...but, I had way too much fun celebrating to feel old about it.
...
...
A Breakdown of My Celebrating:
(I forgot my camera for over 1/2 of it, but I will still manage to post 999 pictures. It's my birthday. I can.)
...
The festivities started Friday night when Brett's family had a get together at the Jones home for me.
Michelle, Adam, and their adorable kids, along with Brett's mom and dad surely didn't lack in the effort area.
We had a delicious dinner, divine cake, and as usual...a really great time hanging out with them. On top of that, they gave really sweet presents.
Michelle gave me this book... have you heard of it? I'm hooked.
...

...
Monday night, Brett arranged for my mom to watch Jack and he took me to Sundance for dinner and then we went to a movie.
We don't go out alone very often.
Maybe because it's usually pretty easy to just take Jack, or because we are sort of in love with being home, or because I might have a little problem with separating myself from Jack.
Nonetheless, it was a much needed night and we had an absolute blast.
THE ONLY 2 PICTURES WE TOOK.
As you can see, we take the goofball approach when we finally get out.
SCARY.
...
...
Tuesday, I woke up to Brett and Jack making me breakfast while I basked in the glory of a whole bunch of new duds (what a surprise!).
jack couldn't have been happier playing with my balloons.
..
...
Later, I went to lunch with my mom, Jack, Annie and her boys, and my Grandma Joanne.
We had a lovely time yelling over our kids.
Of course we did.
It's always a lovely time with this crowd.
Unfortunately Kate had to work...she was surely missed & I was so glad she could make it to the party later.
...
...
I came home to Brett taking half of the day off to stay home with me.
Jack surprised me with the lovely tulips above...my favorite flower, how did he know?
That evening, we met up with the entire fam at Cafe El Lago for dinner.
Let me tell you, between dinner at Sundance the night before, a giant breakfast, lunch out with the girls, and now a huge dinner...I was feeling it.
Considering eating hasn't been a favorite pastime of mine for months...my belly was feeling it.

(i don't think the right side of the table got the memo to smile)
adorable grandparents.

...
After dinner, we came back to my house for dessert and presents.
...
my little family...
mom, annie, kate, grandma joanne, me & my permanent appendage
isabel, me, lucy, and hankster
annie and i looking scary...and a little too fond of eachother
I got so many great and generous gifts.
Let it be known...I am entirely spoiled.
(as you can see below)
This loot is a combo of presents I acquired from my mom and sisters.
Annie gave me the fab shoes.
Kate the adorable necklace and sweater.
Mom/Dad, the AMAZING bag + necklace + flowers + life
...
...
It was such a great day...sunny...new clothes to make me feel springy...perfect company...etc!
I have nothing but love for you, 26.
Nothing but love.
...
Thank you everyone who called/texted/left cupcakes/flowers/etc.
You know who you are and I love you for thinking of me.
...
Thanks to my family...my birthday was amazing because of every one of you!
......
I think I especially enjoyed 26 because of this little love.
Trust me.
A squeeze of these cheeks and a gaze into these baby blues tops just about any present out there.

Yoooooooo...

There is a man who has rocked the world of the Jones' home.
Life has changed for us.
And will never be the same.
(in a totally scary kind of way)
...
Meet DJ Lance Rock.
...
...
Host of Yo Gabba Gabba
&
One Crazy Son of a Gun.
.......
......
Jack can't look away.
...
And neither can we.
....
....
The level of joy in this kid's life has peaked to a new high ever since he discovered his love for DJ.
...
See....
...
You may be quirky and plenty creepy DJ Lance, but you rock my kid's world so....
BrEAk it DowN, brother!
(as Lance would say).

Wednesday Thinking

First things first.
...
There's another birthday worth celebrating!
Today is one of my very best friends, Lou's, birthday.
...
Lou and I go back to the days of 7th grade, went on to be college roommates, are both old moms now...and continue to be great friends.
Lou is just the kind of friend everyone should have.
I'm quite sure we've never had a fight.
We always have fun together.
We are all sorts of different, but so much the same.
She makes me pee my pants with laughter pretty much every time we're together.
And, no matter how much time goes by without seeing each other, things are always just.the.same.
...
If you don't have a friend like Lou, you've got to get one.
...
Happy Birthday, Lou!
Sure love you and I WILL COME DOWN there... promise.
Hope you have the best day!
...
...
On another note, Wednesdays are usually quite uneventful around here.
I tend to get to thinking on Wednesdays.
I started thinking about Jack's spinal surgery this morning as I read the words of several parents with children struggling for their health.
...
As I read their words, I remember the fear.
We were lucky enough to have a relatively smooth surgery with Jack.
4 days at Primary Children's and then we were home and done.
...
Many of these people have children in these situations for a very long time, due to accidents, illness, or complications at birth. No matter their circumstance, by heart goes out to them and in a small way, I can sympathize.
One particular child who occupies a lot of my thoughts is my sweet niece, Ella.
Ella was born on November 2nd.
...
...
She is the daughter of my sister-in-law Tiffany and her husband Chris and she was diagnosed at birth with a very rare syndrome called Cornelia de Lange Syndrome.
...
With this syndrome can come a complexity of serious mental and physical issues, some of which she has already had to experience in her very young life.
She has been in the hospital for over three months since her arrival.
...
In their efforts to help Ella develop to her fullest potential and in hopes of being able to bring her home, they must do an exploratory surgery tomorrow in order to try and solve some of her feeding problems.
...
This sweet family has already endured so much.
Tiffany and Chris are such amazing parents and Ella is so lucky to have them and her sweet siblings.
They could use your prayers.
They definitely have mine, as well as my love.
...
...
I've felt the need to hold Jack particularly tight today (poor kid can hardly breathe).
...
I'm so lucky and so glad to be home today with this mug.
So lucky.

Celebrating Hank: Pool Style

....
....Our little Hank turned 5 today.
...
(do you like how I call him "Our Hank?"
I swear he's close to being mine...just let me pretend.)
...
To ring in the big 5, we got our swim on at the Legacy Center at a cousins birthday party.
...
Other than my offensive lack of a tan & semi-offensive cleavage, this was a genius idea.
What a way to make me feel like it's not dead in the middle of winter.
...
Jack had an absolute blast. Last summer he was brand new and a bit small for the pool, so this was his first legit experience in the pool. I had a feeling he'd eat it up...and I was right.
2 straight hours of kicking, splashing, being splashed, and one completely ecstatic bambino.
...
(Thanks for the picture taking, mom!)
...
Now, back to the birthday boy...
Seriously...how cool is this kid?
Look at those tattoos!
The one on his chest says MOM. Perfect.
...
My conversation with Annie today sums it up perfectly.
"When did we become moms at a pool for one of our kids'
5 YEAR BIRTHDAY PARTY?"
...
I cannot believe Hank is 5.
I am so lucky that by default in spending a great deal of my spare time with his mom, I get to spend time with him, too.
Hank is the perfect mix of making me laugh hysterically and making me want to break down and cry because he is so incredibly cute and sweet.
Oh, how I love this mug! And Jack couldn't be more crazy about him...already the best of friends!
...
(See why I love this kid?)
Hank,
Thanks for sharing your mom with me. Thanks for teaching me how to play 4 wheelers and for not making fun of me when I can't do tricks on the tramp.
....
Coolest new 5 year old I know!
And you throw one tight birthday party!
Love you, my little pal.
....
Happy Birthday, Buddy!
