Russ' First Days

We enjoyed a couple of lovely days at the hospital holding Russ and introducing him to friends and family.

My favorite part was a couple of hours after he was born, Annie brought the boys (whom she had watched after school for us), to meet their brother.

I was really determined to have a moment with just them to meet him and digest all that had happened.

It was perfect, and their reactions were so sweet.

They were immediately smitten by him, and couldn't stop saying how cute he was.

Jack made himself right at home for the long haul.
Tucker's attention, however, was a little more short lived... he was probably running amuck in the halls at this point.

Over the course of the next few days, Russel's grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, etc would come to fall in love with him at first sight.

(And so many more visitors... my pic taking game was not on par... too distracted being lazy)

I loved the down time just staring at this little love.

Brett handled juggling our older boys and me and the baby like a pro.
Lucky for us all we have amazing family to help.
One such time was when his mom and Tana took our boys to Thanksgiving Point for the afternoon.

The night before coming home, we discoverd a bump on Russell's head that was disturbing, to say the least.
When we called attention to the nurse of it, our worries only worstened.
She acted like it was serious, and could result in needing ultrasounds, etc.

We freaked a little, Brett ended up staying the night with me (thanks to Kate who spent the night at home with our other boys), but it all turned out to be just fine.

The doctors were much more calm about it than the nurse and assured us it was just a hemotomo or trauma from birth.
1 week later, it was completely gone.
Phew.

Thankfully, I had Brett with me through that scare.
I'd die without him.

The hospital days really are a precious time before the reality and chaos of home.
