Jack's Epic Birthday Party

Brace yourself for Jack's 4th Birthday recap.
It was one for the books.

Brett and I were up until 2:30 am the night before his birthday putting together his present...a trampoline, and decorating for his birthday party.

6:30 came fast as he woke up excited for the big day.  He had been patient long enough...

We opened his presents (before Tuck woke up).

He got a new Bat and Ball.
Candyland
The Wizard of Oz
Shoes
Art Supplies
A Kite
Skull Underwear...

And then...

The big surprise waiting for him outside!!

He was pretty much a jumping blur the rest of the day!

He was darling opening his presents, saying with every new one, "Oh my gosh, I luf it!"

Next came preparations for his birthday party!

There really was never any other theme that his party could be other than zombies and all things spooky.
We invited all his friends (who just so happen to only be his cousins).

Brett's artistic genius really came in handy when it came to decorating for this gig.

We tried to make it 100% Jack...and in turn...it was one twisted random theme!

I devoted my energy to crepe paper, balloons, and a crap load of webbing.

Oh... and this little beauty.
I had to make it myself...finding a Halloween themed pinata in June is no easy feat.

Now... a little back story for the rest.
As I've mentioned before, Jack is obsessed with his Paranorman zombies...to say the least.
Judge Hopkins is his favorite, and he decided that it would only be appropriate for his creepy birthday party to dress as Judge Hopkins...makes perfect sense ???

For days leading up to his party, he kept asking and asking and asking and asking if it was time to be Judge Hopkins yet.  The only way I could get him to stop talking about it was to work on a piece of the costume...a little bit at a time...each day.
Luckily, that strung him along and he made it to the big day for the complete reveal.

These first pics are of the days leading up to the party...

Trying out the wig... (and pose)

Shirt and scarf additions..

The best part was that as he tried on each piece of the puzzle, he'd wear it around for a while.
The real kicker was that he'd act like it was totally normal to be dressed as an old zombie judge.
He'd ride in the car...suck his thumb (oh yeah, he still does that at FOUR...oooopsies)...
This particular night, he was helping Brett with some handy work in the garage.
Makes me giggle every time.

And so, now...I give you...

JUDGE HOPKINS
(the birthday boy all ready for his party)

He made quite the entrance for everyone.
He stayed 100% in character the ENTIRE party.
He even demanded that we not call him Jack...it was JUDGE HOPKINS!

I think he scared the crap out of half of his cousins and Grandma Jones!

Tucker was over Judge Hopkins by this part.
Although, whenever he or Sam see Jack they roar like a zombie like that's just who Jack is to them!

We played a variety of Jack/Halloween/Birthday games.

Luckily, Jack has the best cousins in the world, all older than him, and willing to bring it down to a FOUR year old level.

First, we played Jack Bingo.
I custom made all the cards to have all of  Jack's favorite characters.

Next, we played pin the tail on Sparky (Frankenweenie).

We had some cheaters in the house...but, it was fun nonetheless.

Then, we headed upstairs for some musical graves.
We (mainly Brett) had made graves with all of his zombie friend's names on them...custom made to look just like the ones in the movie.  I am completely certain that no one else in this world would know that detail...but, Jack knew exactly what they were.
He also refused to let anyone else sit in the Judge Hopkins chair.

8 year old brawl for the last grave....
Ethan vs. Hank

After a couple of rounds, Jack (I mean, Judge Hopkins) decided to be a spectator

Last up was the PINATA.

An aggressive Judge went ape on his "4".

Luckily, in the past year, Jack finally tried cake. (Still never tried ice cream :( )
He will ONLY taste Kneaders' Oreo cake, and he only eats the frosting...but, it's something!
So, of course that was the cake we had for the party.

LOL.  Kate gave him this sunglasses.
Perfect.

All in all, the party was a total success.
He obviously loved it, because everything about it was soooooo Jack.

Before the last party guests left, Jack decided it was time to wash away Judge Hopkins and be Jack again.
He CRASHED for a quick nap before his birthday dinner...and woke up refreshed and ready!

We went to Rubios (his favorite), and he pretty much stayed glued to Louis the whole time.

Tucker was in a festive mood.

My mom and dad came home with us for a bit, and you know Jack is loved when Grandma Jackie JUMPS on the tramp!

He could not have been happier to have an audience!

Tiffany and Grandma Jones gave Jack this awesome Dracula cape...

This equally awesome gold-plated hook...and these hilarious pjs!

He also got a BIKE from Grandma Jackie and Grandpa Curt.
His cousins showered him with so many art supplies and toys that it took us days to even look at all of it.

He was a happy gracious 4 year old heading to bed!

We LOVED doing this for our Jack man...and seeing how happy and impressed he was with everything all day definitely made it all worth it!
However, it definitely took us a few days to recover!
Serious zombie hangover!
