Jack at FOUR!

Man oh man.
This is a big one.
I hate how long I have put off writing this post.

Maybe it's because I know I could go on and on and on and on and on for days about my little Jack man.
Maybe it's that I don't want to face the fact that he is now FOUR.
It may also have something to do with the fact that I don't think we've ever been so busy
(more details on that in a later post.)

I have an endless supply of stories, sayings, and Jack antics.  Getting them down is so important to me, because I never ever want to forget this silly, amazing age.
It may not be pretty... but, I'll do my best to get down all the things that make up this lovable boy of mine.

I swear to you, I say it a lot, but this kid is one in 10 billion!
The stuff he comes up with absolutely kills us all, I can hardly wait what his year number four will bring.

He's started looking a lot older lately... hasn't grown a ton in the past year... little whipper snapper.
This kid still doesn't eat much.  I'd say in the last year his picky eating has improved from liking 5 things to liking 6.  Wonder why he's so skinny?  Eating anything new is a constant battle, and eating the things he does like requires a valiant fight, too.  The ol' sticker chart has definitely been worn right out with bribes.

Jack loves to wear sunglasses, mainly because he "doesn't like so much bright."
So shocking...his skin would indicate that he LOVES basking in the sunlight. ha. ha.
My little albino :).

Jack also has some refined tastes.
For a while there, he required a nightly bath in my tub- complete with jets, mounds of bubbles, and (of course) candlelight.

One of Jack's favorite things to do is to just sit down and "talk."
He is constantly saying, "C'mon mom, let's talk."

Jack has always idolized his cousins
It's becoming even more apparent as he gets older.
He has a unique little relationship with all of his cousins that live around here (unfortunately, I didn't upload very many that show ALL of them), and he adores spending time with all of them.

He's spent his fair share of time at different sporting events for the Griffin's, and dance events for his "grill" cousins. I think in Jack's mind, Louis and Wizabel might be his girlfriends.

Hank and Max are always looking out for him.

I'm not sure there is anyone that Jack idolizes more than Hank.
Shed a tear for the cutest picture ever...

Jack is such a curious boy.  He's always asking "why" things are the way they are, and pays attention to detail like no one I have ever met (except for his dad!).

As you continue to  read... you'll see...Jack has such a creative brain.
A crazy, beautiful, unique little mind!
Jack's artistic side is really starting to show through.  He LOVES to watch us draw things for him, and requests things drawn over and over and over again until they are just right.
He is also getting really good at drawing people, and spends a lot of time submerged in endless paper, markers, scissors, etc.
(Side note: That classy medal around his neck came home from primary with him one Sunday.  I almost died when I read the back, "I sang a solo in primary today!"  What I wouldn't give to have seen that!)

Jack also LOVES to watch how things are made.
He'll watch YouTube videos about the creation of Disneyland rides or documentaries about the Paranoman animation for days. BORING for mama...BLISS for Jack.

This picture shows Jack saying one of his infamous catch phrases.
"baby tiny"
Multiple times a day, Jack finds a use for this phrase...and he always does the hand action with it.
"I'll just take a baby tiny bite."
"I'm going to stay awake for a bit longer...you know, just a baby tiny."
"I'll share just a baby tiny with Tucker."

He is the king of compromising and will argue and argue his point until he's completely worn you out.
A persistent little bugger, Jack does not back down easily...and trust me- a lot of his ideas and requests are pretty far fetched!

I can't believe that I'm on year FOUR, and still writing about Jack's amazing sleep.  I was sure by last birthday, naps were soon to be a thing of the past.
Nope.
EVERY (and I mean EVERY) day, Jack still takes a nap in the afternoon.
2 hours is the minimum.  3-4 hours the standard.
Un.believable.
If only he could teach his brother!
Because of his wonderful mid-day slumber, he usually goes to bed pretty late (9:00+)...but, we don't mind.
Jack really is one of the most fun people that you could ever hang out with.
Exhausting.  But, fun! :)

One of the few things Jack will eat is a quesadilla.
His pickiness on this front has gotten worse the past year, and the only place he'll eat one is at Rubios.
He calls a quesadilla a "pat pat"... a term that he used way back when I would make him quesadillas and would pat them with the spatula.
Hence, Rubios is called the "Pat Pat Store."

Can't you tell...he LOVES them.

Because finding things for him to eat is such a challenge...we frequent Rubios more than I'd like to admit!

This wouldn't be a complete post on Jack if Tucker didn't make an appearance.
When there is a Jack...not far behind is a Tucker.
These two are having more and more fun together as time goes by, and Tucker is quickly becoming a product of Jack's nuttiness.

Jack is super protective of all of his precious toys, and Tucker just waits for the moment when Jack lets his guard down to touch them and play with them! It's a hilarious process to watch.
Already you can see... Tucker is learning how to push Jack's buttons...and he's not afraid to try!

Every day, I become more and more thankful that I have two boys that will always have each other.

Random tid bit for you...
Jack never gets hurt.
By age four, I think he had required maybe 2 band aids in his life.
He also never gets sick.
In fact, I haven't had Jack to the doctor for a sickness since he was 18 months old.

This was a RARE occasion when he hurt himself falling off of the counter and bumping his chin...which presents a whole other tid bit about Jack... he loves sitting on the counter.  It's like his little perch...and where he eats, draws, and plays a lot of the day.

Jack is super coordinated, a great basket baller, loves to jump on the tramp, and has a wicked golf swing already.

Jack will never shy away from the opportunity to show you his muscles.
Now that he knows how to take his own shirt off...look out!
You ask to see those big boys, and man...does he deliver!

I could dedicate ten posts to the fact that Jack lives for dressing up.
His imagination is hilarious, and not a day goes by when he isn't in character for part or much of it.

He's recently shown a real love for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Here he's showing off some mad nun chuck skills...on his perch.
It's a nice departure from the Halloween garb he usually gravitates toward, however, his favorite TMNT character is Kraang... who has brains falling out of his stomach.
Such a weirdo.

I can't remember who he was channeling this day...

But, a hat and cape go a long way with his imagination!

This next thing may be the most funny thing Jack has become obsessed with.  It also shows his insane attention to detail.

After our Disneyland trip, Jack became obsessed with the Haunted Mansion.  He watches YouTube videos, memorized Madame Leota (bubble head's) script, listens to the ride soundtrack, etc.
One day, I caught him watching his reflection in the fireplace...thumb out... and realized he was pretending to be one of the hitchhiking ghosts from the end of the ride.

He found this tiny little top hat when he was shopping for his birthday with Tiffany, and he just knew he had to have it! It completed his vision perfectly! Haha!

A few days later, he decided that to make it even more complete, would be to add a bow tie. (called an "elbow tie" by him).

It's not breaking news that Jack is obsessed with all things Halloween...
Zombies, witches, ghosts, etc.

He recently formed a love of the Wizard of Oz...largely due to Grandma Jackie's influence...and the fact that there is a creepy witch and even creepier flying monkeys.

Here, he's doing the best he can with our props and costume options to be the Wicked Witch.
Black hat. Check.
Cape. Check.
Broom (that's actually a toy mop). Check!

This next picture perfectly illustrates some of Jack's recent shenanigans.
He desperately wanted to be the Shadow Man (Princess and the Frog), and I bribed him with doing well at swimming lessons.
Well...he held up his end of the bargain, and I was left with the ridiculous task of making a "tux" for Jack using black fabric and safety pins.  It was a little out of my league...and we were both a little frustrated, to say the least, by the time we were done.

At least he got his precious feather in his hat. Lol.

It feels a bit unnatural to be this far in the post without talking about Jack and his zombies.  Judge Hopkins, Will London, Lemuel Spalding, and Amelia Wilcott are like my 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th children.
These zombies from Paranorman might not be known by any other person on this planet, but for Jack they are his pride and joy.
He plays zombies every single day.  They sleep by his bed.  He has drawings upon drawings of them, in addition to his action figures of them.  He tapes them to the wall...carries them in his lunch box... talks about them non stop, and does everything in his power to keep Tucker AWAY from them!

They are his peeps.

I don't know what it is with Jack and his love of all things creepy and scary...
He legitimately was just born to love it.  He is drawn to it....LOVES it.
We're 6 months away from Halloween, and already counting down!
Maybe with all of his creativity...and love for spooky weird things, he'll be the next Tim Burton.

Of course, Jack typically has an attraction to the villain in movies...but, he also likes anything alien, robot, pirate, or superhero.

I find it to be so funny that Jack is such a little voo doo child...he is such a sweet, tenderhearted little thing.
His face is so angelic, he is so kind, and he loves affection.
Complex character.

Jack is a total mamas boy.

Don't get me wrong, he loves his daddy...
But, he reaaaaally loves lovin' on his mommy.
One day this boy will realize that trying to make out with your mom isn't normal. Hmmmmm.
He's maybe a little too good at giving big kisses...and after he says "huvva huvva." (hubba hubba).

One of the funniest things Jack has started doing is speaking with an accent...
He'll say things like, " What's going on in heeeya?"
Like he has a Bostonian accent or something.
So random!

Actually, random is about the most perfect word I could use to describe this crazy guy, and I couldn't love him more for it.  He makes everyone laugh...has more character than anyone I've ever met. He will also melt your heart in an instant.
One thing that cannot be denied about Jack is that he is so endearing and incredibly lovable.  He loves people, and develops unique relationships with everyone.  He is especially fond of his aunts Kate, Annie, and Tiffany...and I feel like each of them genuinely feels a special connection with him.
He has a relationship with Grandma Jackie that is second to none.

I tell you this kid has got us all wrapped right around his little finger, and every year of his young life has proven to be more entertaining than the one before! His antics can be exhausting, but I wouldn't trade anything about him for the world.
He is definitely his own person....
A perfect little creature who I love and adore with every piece of my heart.

Four.
It's gonna be another wonderful, and hilarious year!
