Christmas came in a flash!
It always does...but, this year...woah!
It was a crazy whirlwind leading up to it, and days before- poor little Russell started with a little cold and a cough. It was no surprise with all the running around and passing around over the course of a busy December.
Luckily, he is one easy baby.
We limited the passing around and kept him close by- and he weathered the whole holiday hullabaloo just perfectly.
...
Tana and Matt were kind enough to host Christmas Eve at their home this year, and it was a great few hours gearing up for the big day. We had a great meal, did the nativity (with our 7 boys...woah), and were able to make it back home to settle the boys down (yeah right) before Santa did his business.
(The car seat is our 4th child).
*PS- You would think that we had the perfect prop for the Baby Jesus this year, but Tucker decided to fill the role. So, I got to play Mary, and swaddle my man child. It was awesome.
Jack was the donkey...and I sat on him and flattened him.
Brett was a scary thug of a shepherd.
Mama got an early Christmas present...bathed and jammied boys...my favorite!
Snow started coming down heavy, and we were all ready to be tucked in nice and toasty in our home for the night.
It really was a perfect Christmas scene.
Until our kids refused to fall asleep until 1 am.
But- that's just a small detail, I suppose.
Because of their late night, they snoozed pretty late into the morning, and we almost had to wake them up to get the ball rolling for the day!
We started our jamboree at about 7:30 am.
Reading a note from Santa...
*Jack was so excited that he said his stomach was sick and he was shaking. Little rat is so intense it took him a good 10 minutes into present opening to settle down and just enjoy things.
The scene:
Jack:
Kilo Ren Lego Set
K'nex Roller Coaster
Darth Vader Helmet
(full coverage... this is a big deal)
Loopin' Chewy Game
Ski Helmet
Remote Control Helicopter
Darth Vader Minifigure (again)
TMNT Action Figures
Tucker:
Jokerland Lego Set
Ninja Turtle Lair Lego Set
Lite Brite
Dart Board
TMNT Action Figures
Spiderman Lego
REmote Control Helicopter
Operation
Russell:
Clothes
Bottles
Nighlight
Sound Machine
Chew Toy
Binkies
And Russell did THIS during ALL the commotion.
So Russell.
Just when the boys thought they had opened everything... we brought out two more presents.
MOTORCYCLE helmets.
They thought they were pretty cool...but thought they were a whole lot cooler when we took them downstairs to see their new
MOTORCYCLE!
Training wheels do this worried mom's heart a world of good.
This looks like trouble.
Brett and I then proceeded to ignore our toy happy little rascals for a couple of hours while we gave each other our gifts, and then quickly rallied to get to my mom's for our traditional Christmas morning up there.
There was so. much. snow.
It was beautiful and awesome.
And so was my little sleeping angel.
The cousins exchanged gifts and my parents spoiled us all completely rotten!
Leather jackets from Grandma Jackie... well played, Grandma.
Our first Christmas as a family of FIVE.
My parents and all the grandkidlets (minus Russ).
The evening was lovely and low key.
The Jones' were saving their family time for New Years, so we headed home.
I loved on this little sweetie...who FINALLY woke up!
And then Brett and I were quickly put to work on THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of Legos.
This is the instruction book for ONE of Tucker's sets that I was in charge of.
And, this picture pretty much sums up the next few days of life at our home:
It was a MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS, and boy are we lucky.
So much family...so many incredible blessings.
None of us went without, that is for sure.
And, in a blink of an eye-- we'll be back at it, Christmasing again!
